The foundation is a biotechnologically processed strain of Penicillium oxalicum var. Armeniaca. This is not an ordinary mold, but a specific fungal strain that was isolated from the soil of the Ararat Valley in Armenia and subsequently subjected to extensive scientific research. This microorganism attracted scientists because of its ability to produce unique metabolites that are well tolerated by the human body and exhibit interesting biological properties. Discovery of the fungus Penicillium oxalicum var. Armeniaca
In 1972, Dr. Eduard Sardaryan succeeded in isolating a strain of a microscopic filamentous fungus from the soil of the Ararat Valley in Armenia, which exhibited highly remarkable properties for its time. The fungus differed from all previously known microscopic fungi mainly due to its unique biosynthetic dynamics and its ability to produce an exogenous red pigment. Together with his colleagues, he taxonomically classified the microorganism as Penicillium oxalicum var. Armeniaca and included it among potential medicinal agents.
During extensive research, Dr. Sardaryan thoroughly investigated this fungus and discovered that the secondary metabolites it produces are neither pathogenic nor toxic and that they are highly compatible with the human body. Moreover, they may provide significant health benefits. Once the research was completed, efforts began to find practical applications for this substance. In 1996, based on expert evaluations by the National Institute of Public Health of the Czech Republic (SZÚ), Dr. Sardaryan received approval from the Prague Public Health Authority for the use of the substance derived from Penicillium oxalicum var. Armeniaca in the pharmaceutical industry. He subsequently patented the biomass in 120 countries worldwide. In 2006, it was registered on the list of medicinal products by the Ministry of Health.
